Lecture 18: Linear Momentum and energy

Objectives: In this lecture, students will learn to

• analyze elastic collisions
• apply conservation of linear momentum and conservation of energy to multi-step problems
• define center of mass
• relate center of mass motion to external forces
• formulate the principal mechanism of rocket propulsion as an example of momentum conservation
